HANDS OF THE LORD JESUS IS OUR HANDS
A Segunda Guerra Mundial foi conflito militar global que durou de 1939 a 1945, envolvendo a maioria das nações do mundo – incluindo todas as grandes potências - organizadas em duas alianças militares opostas: os Aliados e o Eixo, sendo que as principais nações dos Aliados eram União Soviética, Estados Unidos e Império Britânico e o Eixo era encabeçado por Alemanha, Itália e Japão.
The Second World War was a global military conflict which lasted from 1939 to 1945,involving most nations of the world - including all the major powers - organized into two opposing military alliances: the Allies and the Axis, and the major nations of the Allies were Union Soviet, U.S. and British Empire and the Axis was headed by Germany, Italy and Japan.
Durante esta guerra os soldados norte-americanos descobriram numa cidade europeia, uma estátua de Cristo, reduzida a frangalhos, em uma Igreja que havia sido bombardeada e, por isso, ficou muito danificada.
During this war the American soldiers found in a European city, a statue of Christ, reduced to shreds in a church that had been bombed and, therefore, was badly damaged.
Com grandes esforços, os soldados foram, com paciência, retirando dos escombros todos os cacos da referida estátua: todas as partes foram encontradas e, assim, conseguiram reconstituí-la: mas não encontraram as mãos daquela peça de escultura.
With great efforts, the soldiers were, with patience, removing all the debris of broken statue that means all parts were found and thus able to reconstruct it, but found the hands of that piece of sculpture.
O que ocorreu? Como foram baldados todos os esforços na procura dos braços, eles resolveram colocar a estátua em lugar de destaque, e escreveram um cartão com os dizeres: “AS MINHAS MÃOS SÃO AS VOSSAS MÃOS” e o dependuraram nela.
What happened? As all efforts were unavailing in search of arms, they decided to put the statue in a prominent position, and wrote a card that read: "MY HANDS ARE YOURHANDS" and hung it.
E fica aí a mensagem: trabalhemos como se as nossas mãos fossem as mãos do próprio Senhor Jesus.
And here is the message: we work as if our hands were the hands of the Lord Jesus.
Este relato é muito conhecido, mas apesar de insistentes buscas, não conseguimos identificar com precisão a igreja e em que cidade/país.
This story is well known, but despite repeated searches, can not identify accurately the church and that city/country.
