TELÉGRAFO
TELEGRAPH
... " What hath God wrought ! " ...

The telegraph was invented by SAMUEL FINLEY BREESE MORSE, born April 27, 1791 in Charlestown - Massachusetts, United States.
MORSE, studied at Yale College, where he became interested in electricity: in 1832, during a boat trip, participated in a conversation about the magnet, the device still little known but drew much attention and aroused great interest.
In 1835, Morse finally built his first working prototype of a telegraph, but continued searching until 1837 when he started to devote himself more fully to the invention, until, in mid-1838, finally had a really functional code of signals, which came to be known and called Morse Code.
Getting in 1843, Financial Resources to your invention, through the U.S. Congress he continued until his invention in 1844 who completed the first telegraph line, connecting cities from Baltimore to Washington, DC, when he gave up the first official broadcast and whose message was:
... "What hath God wrought!" ... (God did that work!).
The telegraph was widely used by military corporations, so that during the Second World War came to be used in parallel with other methods of transmission, such as SSB (Single Side Band).
Nowadays almost no longer uses the telegraph, though Morse Code is still being used in NDB, which is a kind of beacon used in aviation and maritime navigation, especially in the latter.
Beacon, or often known by the acronym NDB (Non-Directional Beacon) is a specialized transmitting station, installed in a fixed geographical position and precisely known, which emits radio signals to a pre-determined format that allows mobile radio stations (terrestrial air or sea) to make their identification and to determine its relative position against the geographic point of issue.
Also, some satellites use Morse code to signal their identity and location by telemetry.
Samuel Morse died on April 2, 1872 in New York.
In Brazil, in 1944, then President of the Republic Vargas instituted the day May 24 as the Day of the telegraph, in order that he considered this a Professional "true unsung hero" with relevant services to collectivity.
With the progress of both a computer and the other system became obsolete with the advent of cellular technology and the Internet.
