BISHOP DESMOND TUTU: HONORIS CAUSA IN THE BRAZIL
O bispo anglicano Desmond Tutu, vencedor do Prêmio Nobel da Paz 1984, recebeu no dia 28 de outubro de 2011 o título de Doutor Honoris Causa da Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná-PUC: o Conselho Universitário concedeu a homenagem em 30 de junho deste ano, em reconhecimento à luta do bispo sul-africano contra a pobreza, o preconceito e o racismo.
The Anglican Bishop Desmond Tutu, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984, received on 28 October 2011 the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná-PUC: The University Council granted the honor on June 30 this year in recognition of the struggle of South African bishop against poverty, prejudice and racism.
Desmond Tutu ficou conhecido mundialmente depois que recebeu o Prêmio Nobel e em seu discurso na PUC, lembrou os tempos em que a África do Sul vivia sob o regime do Apartheid, em que a segregação racial fazia parte da sociedade daquele país: Nelson Mandela e Tutu foram os líderes do movimento que deu um basta ao racismo na África do Sul.
Desmond Tutu became known worldwide after he received the Premium Nobel and in his speech at Catholic University, recalled the days when South Africa was under the Apartheid regime, in which racial segregation was part of the society of that country: Nelson Mandela and Tutu were leaders of the movement that put a stop to racism in South Africa.
Com o fim do regime, Tutu passou a viajar pelo mundo, fazendo palestras contra o racismo e desigualdade.
With the end of the regime, Tutu spent traveling the world giving speeches against racism and inequality.
