WORLD CUP 2014: PELE IS BRAZIL'S AMBASSADOR
Edson Arantes do Nascimento, o ex-jogador de futebol Pelé, é o Embaixador Honorário do Brasil para a Copa do Mundo, a realizar-se no Brasil em 2014: o Rei do Futebol, como ficou conhecido, esteve no Palácio do Planalto reunido com a Presidente da República, Dilma Rousseff, no dia 26de julho de 2011.

A Presidente oficializou a importante titulação, ao assinar um decreto que a cria, e fez entrega a Pelé, que terá entre suas atribuições divulgar no exterior a imagem da Copa: “Eu não poderia deixar de aceitar este convite da nossa Presidente, pois como brasileiro - vocês sabem - eu já faço isso desde que nasci”, declarou Pelé, que concluiu: “Desde a primeira Copa do Mundo que eu defendo e faço a promoção do Brasil, é uma responsabilidade muito grande, mas eu não poderia deixar de aceitar”.
