TECHNICAL AND CONTRIBUTIONS OF A PSYCHOLOGIST FOR PASTORAL COUNSELING

Pastor, você sabe ouvir e realizar um Aconselhamento Pastoral (AP) eficaz e eficiente? Sabe as técnicas que podem ser utilizadas no gabinete para isto? Suas ovelhas se sentem satisfeitas com seu AP ou você ainda depende de algum desenvolvimento para isto? Este pequeno ensaio apresenta alguns princípios básicos para esta importante tarefa do ministério pastoral.

Pastor, you know to listen and hold a Pastoral Counseling (AP) effective and efficient? You know the techniques that can be used at the office for this? His sheep feel satisfied with your AP still depends on you or any development for it? This little essay presents some basic principles for this important task of pastoral ministry.

PRIMEIRO PASSO: SABER OUVIR
FIRST STEP: LEARN TO LISTEN

O ouvir é uma habilidade rara, ainda mais ouvir o outro integralmente e com empatia. Geralmente, quando se encontra alguém que aparentemente ouve pode-se ter na realidade alguém que apenas fica em silêncio enquanto o outro fala e que, seletivamente, presta atenção na fala imbuído de preconceitos e censuras ao outro.

The hearing is a rare skill, even more fully hear the other and with empathy. Generally, when someone hears it apparently has in fact someone who is only in silence while the other speaks and, selectively, watching the speech imbued with prejudices and objections to the other.

Ouvir uma ovelha é saber que ali há um corpo que fala além das palavras pronunciadas. Ouvir uma ovelha é saber que há um outro diferente de nós e não apenas similar pelos valores cristãos. Ouvir uma ovelha é saber que, apesar de convertida, esta é uma pessoa com conflitos interiores típicos do ser humano.

É imprescindível saber que enquanto a ovelha fala os nossos pensamentos de censura e repreensão também falam. Não dê ouvidos a eles. Neste primeiro momento é necessário se ater apenas à fala da ovelha. Um outro ser que certamente falará com você neste momento é o Espírito Santo de Deus. Seu agir é imprevisível no sentido da direção que ele deseja dar para aquela pessoa.

Esta atenção flutuante é a capacidade de oferecer escuta a toda a fala sem se focar numa parte dela para análise ou reflexão. Às vezes o pastor ouve com seletividade e pensa ao mesmo tempo. Isto é prejudicial.

Sometimes the pastor listens with selectivity and thinks the same time. This is harmful.

Os estudos de teorias sobre a personalidade e sobre a psicologia aumentam a capacidade de o conselheiro ouvir. Quanto mais conhecimento ele tiver sobre como é o funcionamento psicodinâmico do ser humano, maior será a capacidade de se ouvir na totalidade as inúmeras partes da psique: a fala consciente, a fala inconsciente, a fala dos sintomas e a fala do corpo.

The study of theories about personality and the psychology to increase the ability of the counselor listening. Quando se entende que a mente é um misto de carne com espírito se entende que na ovelha coexiste uma força que a impele a fazer algo e, ao mesmo tempo, uma outra que a impede de fazer este algo. Como Paulo disse: “pois não faço o bem que quero, mas o mal que não quero, este pratico” (Romanos 7.19).

Intervenções curtas para esclarecimentos não devem ser realizadas no momento em que a fala representa um desabafo ou uma catarse emocional - onde não deve acontecer interrupção de fluxo.

Para ouvir com empatia coloque-se no lugar da ovelha. Ela tem o direito de sentir raiva, impulsos violentos e agressivos. Afinal, Deus fez esta pessoa desta forma. O problema é o que este indivíduo faz com estes impulsos e como os controla. Por isto, demonstre uma escuta acolhedora e sem repreensão.

Listen with empathy to put yourself in the place of sheep. She has the right to feel angry, violent and aggressive impulses. After all, God made this person this way. The problem is that this person does with these impulses and the controls. For this, showing a warm and listening without reprimand.

Não censure pensamentos pecaminosos de pronto. Aborde o tema com cuidado e pelas “beiradas”. Estes pensamentos pecaminosos podem ser resultado de um aprendizado de vida traumático na infância, um aprendizado emocional, um aprendizado oriundo dos pais e de como resolver problemas.

BÍBLIA E ORAÇÃO NO ACONSELHAMENTO
BIBLE AND PRAYER IN COUNSELING

Após a escuta integral da problemática principal da ovelha ofereça questionamentos. Estes questionamentos permitem pensar sobre o momento que a pessoa que busca o aconselhamento está vivendo. Ao invés de oferecer o conselho indague sobre o melhor caminho com base na Bíblia. Estimule a pessoa a encontrar a própria solução para sua questão.

After listening to the whole issue of the main sheep offer questions. These questions suggest about the time that the person seeking advice is living. Instead of offering the council investigate the best way based on the Bible. Encourage the person to find their own solution to your question.

A oração pode ser realizada no meio do processo de AP, antes dos questionamentos e depois da fala inicial da ovelha. Orem e depois dêem prosseguimento ao processo. Muitas vezes uma oração durante o AP pode possibilitar ao Espírito o momento que ele precisa para, com a ajuda do pastor, realizar sua função (João 14.26).

Prayer may be realized in the process of AP, the questions before and after initial talks of sheep. Pray and then they continue the process. Often a prayer over the PA may enable the Spirit the moment he needs to, with the help of the pastor, perform its function (John 14:26).

O conselheiro também deve oferecer versículos e fatos bíblicos, mas deve respeitar a liberdade de escolha da pessoa aconselhada. Em casos mais graves é aceita uma atitude mais diretiva e aconselhadora. Em outros, o questionamento resguarda a individualidade e oferece a possibilidade de esclarecimentos e de reflexão, de tomada de consciência da própria vida.

The adviser must also offer Bible verses and facts, but must respect the freedom of choice of the person advised. In more severe cases is a more acceptable policy and advice. In others, the questioning protect the individuality and allows for clarification and reflection, awareness of life itself.

Controle os impulsos de dar sermões e apresentar histórias e explanações bíblicas vagas neste momento, pois a ovelha quase sempre não ouvirá. Por isto, ajudar a pensar na sua angústia e a elaborar esta angústia biblicamente é o foco do aconselhamento.

PREGAÇÃO X ACONSELHAMENTO
PREACHING ADVICE X COUNSELING

Muitos APs são ineficazes porque os pastores confundem a função do púlpito com a do gabinete pastoral. A função do púlpito é a de expor uma verdade bíblica e a do gabinete é a de contrapor a angústia pessoal com a Bíblia.

Many APs are ineffective because the pastors confuse the role of the pulpit with the pastoral office. The function of the pulpit is to expose a biblical truth and the office is to contrast the personal anguish with the Bible.

A exposição da Bíblia não é um momento proibido, mas deve acontecer em momentos nos quais a capacidade de a ovelha ouvir foi restabelecida. O pastor deve estar sensível para isto. Há momentos em que a ovelha não ouve, só fala, pois o nível de angústia é grande.

The exposure of the Bible is not currently prohibited, but should happen in moments in which the ability to hear the sheep was restored. The pastor must be sensitive to this. There are times when sheep do not listen, not talk, because the level of anxiety is high.

Ofereça momentos de esclarecimento da fala da ovelha. Em alguns momentos a própria situação de vida da ovelha está confusa para ela. Faça perguntas como: “O que você acha que isto quer dizer?” ou “você pode pensar melhor nessa situação para buscar entender o que está acontecendo?”.

Muitas vezes a angústia vem da incapacidade de a ovelha entender o que acontece com ela, com seu corpo e com sua família. Estimular o esclarecimento é muito útil na medida em que coloca a ovelha para buscar o entendimento de sua problemática.

A técnica de esclarecimento difere da de reflexão na medida em que aquela tem o intuito de descrever o que se passa nos detalhes, já a reflexão busca os porquês e os para ques. O uso das duas deve ser concomitante e, com a experiência de AP, se consegue discernir entre o momento de usar cada uma delas.

Já a técnica de confrontação tem o objetivo de corrigir a fala da ovelha e de trazer à consciência de forma mais clara algum comportamento inadequado e não-cristão. Por exemplo, a ovelha diz: “Eu apenas reajo às ignorâncias de meu marido” e o pastor pode dizer “vamos ser sinceros, você responde com ignorância também a ignorância dele, não é verdade?”.

Oferecer confrontação logo de início sem ouvir os desabafos é um grave erro que compromete a capacidade de a ovelha falar. Junto desta técnica pode ser empregada a técnica do silêncio, que comunica à ovelha: “Pense nisto agora”.

A técnica do silêncio pode ser usada em diversos momentos, como no de confrontação e no momento em que a ovelha estiver precisando elaborar por si mesma a dor que sente. Em alguns momentos este silêncio do pastor em momentos de pranto pode demonstrar que a ovelha tem que aprender a lidar e a elaborar esta dor, pois nem sempre poderá contar com um braço para ajudá-la. Nos momentos de pranto, silêncio e palavras confortantes podem coexistir.

The technique of silence can be used at different times, as in the confrontation and when the sheep you need to prepare themselves the pain you feel. Enfim, o pastor não deve reduzir o AP à prática de conselhos, sugestões de decisões e à pregação de sermões. Entretanto, o ouvir e o apenas ouvir é uma técnica muito poderosa e importante. Em alguns momentos o ouvir deve ser praticado de forma integral.

O pastor deve saber discernir quando a ovelha quer uma sugestão bíblica e quando quer apenas desabafar e ser ajudado a pensar. Este ouvir não deve ser estéril. É um ouvir que visa oferecer a diminuição da angústia, que visa esclarecer questões espirituais da ovelha e que visa também a realização de encaminhamentos profissionais e sugestões bíblicas.

Ovelhas que tem um bom nível de amadurecimento (autonomia de decisões e autocontrole das emoções) apenas precisam desabafar e serem ajudados a pensar. Raramente elas precisam de conselhos diretos e frequentes. Outras ovelhas precisam de sugestões mais simples e diretas. Entretanto, deve-se ter consciência de que o fornecimento frequente de conselhos pode produzir um círculo vicioso que se torna fonte de dependência psicológica.

Sheep which has a good level of maturity (independence of decisions and emotions of the self) and only need to be helped to wreak think. Rarely advice they need to direct and frequent. Other suggestions sheep need more simple and direct. However, you should be aware that the provision of advice can often produce a vicious circle that becomes a source of psychological dependence.

LIMITES DO ACONSELHAMENTO
LIMITS OF COUNSELING

A atividade de AP deve e pode se estender além da prática de aconselhamento, mas sempre se distanciando das práticas de Psicoterapia e Psicologia, que são funções por lei privativas de psicólogos.

The activity of AP can and must extend beyond the practice of counseling, but always away from the practices of psychotherapy and psychology, which are functions of psychologists in private law.

Um bom princípio a se observar quanto a isto é não estender demais o numero de sessões de AP com uma ovelha e evitar escarafunchar traumas e relações primitivas com os pais na infância. Isto pode criar situações vexatórias para o pastor que não goza da chamada distancia epistêmica com a ovelha, pois convive com ela no dia a dia. Além disto, poderia desencadear problemas psicológicos e sociais maiores na ovelha.

A good principle to be observed as this is not too extend the number of sessions of PA with a sheep and avoid escarafunchar trauma and relationships with parents early in childhood. This can create situations oppressive to the pastor who does not have the epistemic distance call with the sheep, because she lives with on a daily basis. Furthermore, it could trigger more social and psychological problems in sheep.

Por isto é importante diferenciar Consulta Psicoterápica de AP. O aconselhamento deve ter um foco mais diretivo e no aqui-agora, não se detendo tanto nos porquês da infância e na aplicação de técnicas psicoterápicas. Vale lembrar que a Psicologia é prerrogativa de psicólogos e o desempenho irregular da função é crime. Na dúvida basta saber que atividade de AP se situa ao redor da escuta ativa e empática e do aconselhamento bíblico.

Para encerrar vale ressaltar a história que envolve um doutor e um estudante de medicina. O estudante pergunta: “Doutor se é tão simples retirar um apêndice, por que 7 anos numa faculdade para aprender medicina?” Na sua sabedoria e experiência o médico responde: “Filho, retirar um apêndice é fácil, posso te ensinar isto em 10 minutos. O que vai levar 7 anos é aprender o que fazer quando algo der errado”.
