O Brasil foi descoberto pelos portugueses no dia 22 de abril de 1500.

Em declaração à imprensa durante visita ao Vietnã, em 10/07/08, o presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva agradeceu o apoio do país para que o Brasil ocupe um assento permanente no Conselho de Segurança da Organização as Nações Unidas (ONU). Na visita de um dia ao país, Lula e o presidente do Vietnã, Nguyen Minh Triet, também assinaram acordos de cooperação nas áreas de ciência e tecnologia e de esportes. Entre os documentos, está um memorando para promover iniciativas de combate à fome.
Speaking to the press during a visit to Vietnam on 10/07/08, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva thanked the support of the country to which Brazil occupies a permanent seat on the Security Council of the United Nations Organization (UNO). In one-day visit to the country, Lula and President of Vietnam Nguyen Minh Triet, also signed cooperation agreements in science and technology and sports. Among the documents is a memorandum to promote initiatives to combat hunger.

BRAZIL-VIETNAM: SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL COOPERATION
A Comissão de Constituição e Justiça e de Cidadania (Câmara Federal do Brasil), aprovou no dia 16/03/10, o texto do acordo de cooperação científica e tecnológica celebrado entre o Brasil e o VIETNÃ em 2008, na cidade de Hanói, capital do país asiático.
The Committee on Constitution and Justice and Citizenship (Federal Chamber of Brazil), adopted on 16/03/10, the text of the agreement on scientific and technological cooperation between Brazil and Vietnam in 2008, the city of Hanoi, capital asian country.
Pelo texto, caberá a uma comissão conjunta, formada por representantes das duas nações, definir as áreas prioritárias para a implementação de programas de cooperação científica e tecnológica e examinar o progresso dessas ações.
For the text, it will be a joint commission formed by representatives of both countries to identify priority areas for implementation of cooperation programs in science and technology and examine the progress of these actions.
O acordo também estabelece que Brasil e Vietnã deverão promover atividades como intercâmbio de delegações de peritos e cientistas, seminários, conferências e encontros científicos, treinamentos e programas e projetos de pesquisa conjuntos. Cada país arcará com os custos decorrentes da cooperação.
The agreement also provides that Brazil and Vietnam should promote activities such as exchange of delegations of experts and scientists, seminars, conferences and scientific meetings, training programs and joint research projects. Each country will bear the costs of cooperation.
