São Tomé e Príncipe é um estado insular (desabitado até 1470), localizado no Golfo da Guiné, composto por duas ilhas principais (São Tomé e Príncipe) e várias ilhotas, num total de 964 km². Estado insular, não tem fronteiras terrestres, mas situa-se relativamente próximo das costas do Gabão, Guiné Equatorial, Camarões e Nigéria.

Sao Tome and Principe is an island nation (uninhabited until 1470), located in the Gulf of Guinea, consists of two main islands (Sao Tome and Principe) and several islets, totaling 964 km². Island state, has no land borders, but is situated relatively close to the coasts of Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon and Nigeria.

PRIMEIRA IGREJA BATISTA FAZ ANIVERSÁRIO
FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH MAKES BIRTHDAY

Festa em São Tomé e Príncipe: a Primeira Igreja Batista, na comunidade de Marçal,  completa neste dia 23 de maio de 2011 seus doze anos de organização, valendo salientar nesta oportunidade que a sua criação se deu  no ano de 1999, quando a liderava como congregação, os ex-missionários de Missões Mundiais (Convenção Batista Brasileira) o Pastor Elias Balbino de Lima e  Marta de Jesus Nogueira Lima, tendo sido erguido na época uma sala de madeira.

No Brasil, sede do Ministério Evangélico Internacional Valorizando a Vida!, liderado por +Dom Moysés Barbosa, Dilma Roussef é a primeira mulher a ocupar a Presidência da República, nos 510 anos de história do país sul-americano, e será empossada dia primeiro de janeiro de 2011. O Brasil foi descoberto pelos portugueses no dia 22 de abril de 1500.

O Presidente do Tribunal Superior Eleitoral (TSE), do Brasil, Ministro Ricardo Lewandowski, recebeu no dia 03 de outubro de 2010, na sede do Tribunal, um grupo de 73 observadores internacionais que estiveram em Brasília acompanhando o processo eleitoral e, também, assinando acordos de cooperação na área de Justiça Eleitoral: eram visitantes provenientes de cerca de 30 países, principalmente da África e América Latina.

SÃO TOMÉ E PRÍNCIPE RECEBE DELEGAÇÃO EDUCATIVA DO BRASIL

Aurélio Martins - Presidente da FAMA

Dois representantes da Fundação Paulista de Tecnologia e Educação e da Universidade de Lins (UNILINS) de São Paulo (Brasil), assinaram acordo com a Fundação FAMA - Fundação Aurélio Martins, de São Tomé e Principe, sendo que ambos foram recebidos pelo Embaixador do Brasil, Arthur Meyer em 24/06/2010.

Two representatives of the Foundation Paulista for Technology and Education and the University of Lins (UNILINS) Sao Paulo (Brazil), signed an agreement with the Foundation FAME - Foundation Aurélio Martins, Sao Tome and Principe, both of which were received by the Ambassador of Brazil Arthur Meyer on 24/06/2010.

A delegação, composta pelo presidente da Fundação, Milton Batista Nizato e pelo reitor acadêmico da UNILINS, Edgar Paulo Yastorello, ficou no arquipélago cerca de uma semana e se reuniu, no Instituto Superior Politécnico, com o diretor, João Pontífice, que tomou contato com as intenções da Fundação Paulista no arquipélago.

No dia 12 de Julho de 2009, os habitantes de São Tomé e Principe comemoraram o 34º aniversário da independência e neste sentido, o Núcleo de Estudantes de São Tomé e Príncipe em Minas Gerais (Brasil), em parceria com a Faculdade de Educação da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais - UFMG, o Programa Ações Afirmativas na UFMG e com o Diretório Central dos Estudantes, organizou a primeira Semana Cultural de São Tomé e Príncipe no Brasil, com o objetivo de divulgar a cultura e as potencialidades turística e econômica do arquipélago junto aos brasileiros.

On July 12, 2009, the inhabitants of Sao Tome and Principe celebrated the 34th anniversary of independence and in this sense, the Center for Students, Sao Tome and Principe in Minas Gerais (Brazil), in partnership with the Faculty of Education, University Federal de Minas Gerais - UFMG, the Affirmative Action Program at UFMG and the Central Directory of Students, organized the first cultural week of Sao Tome and Principe in Brazil, aiming to disseminate the culture and tourism and economic potential of the archipelago along the Brazilians.

O evento aconteceu de 07 a 12 de julho de 2009, no Campus-Pampulha da UFMG, com a finalidade também de discutir a posição geoestratégica das ilhas, sua diversidade de flora e fauna e uma exuberante paisagem, visando criar condições para colocar o país na rota dos grandes destinos turísticos, tudo com o apoio do Núcleo de Estudantes São-Tomenses de Brasilia, São Paulo e Rio de Janeiro.

A poetisa Alda do Espírito Santo (foto), figura de primeira linha na luta pela independência são-tomense, faleceu no dia 09 de março de 2010, em Luanda (Angola) aos 83 anos.

The poet Alda do Espírito Santo (photo), top figure in the struggle for independence Sao Tome, died on March 9, 2010 in Luanda (Angola) to 83 years.

Nascida a 30/04/1926 na cidade de São Tomé, Alda Graça do Espírito Santo, combatente da luta pela independência nacional, instruiu a nova geração pós independência e pelas suas mãos de poetisa nasceram versos e rimas que sustentam o orgulho da República Democrática fundada em 1975.

Born on 30.04.1926 in Sao Tome, Alda do Espirito Santo, and fought for national independence, instructed the new generation since independence and their hands were born poet rhymes and verses that support the pride of the Democratic Republic founded in 1975.

Membro do Governo de transição, como Ministra da Educação, Alda do Espírito Santo, foi também ministra da Informação e Cultura e fez dois mandatos como Presidente da Assembleia Nacional Popular.

Member of the Transitional Government as Minister of Education, Alda Espírito Santo, was also Minister of Information and Culture and has two terms as President of the National Popular Assembly.
