A economia de Lesoto é baseada na exportação de água e de energia para a África do Sul. São bem expressivos o setor manufatureiro, a agricultura (sorgo, trigo, milho e feijão) e a criação de gado (caprino e ovino). Lesoto exporta ainda diamantes e lãs.
Uma curiosidade: foi encontrado lá o chamado Diamante do Século, com 120 gramas, que levou o nome de “Promessa de Lesoto”. Sua independência deu-se em 1966.

O Brasil foi descoberto pelos portugueses no dia 22 de abril de 1500.

Afirmou textualmente o Presidente, em fala que foi divulgada também pela página do Palácio do Planalto na internet:

“É importante a gente nunca esquecer que nós ficamos 380 anos praticando escravidão neste país. O Brasil foi o último país do mundo a abolir a escravidão. Acho que nós temos uma dívida enorme com o continente africano, com o povo africano. É uma dívida que a gente nunca vai poder pagar em dinheiro. A gente vai poder pagar em solidariedade, em ajuda humanitária, em ajuda ao desenvolvimento, em ajuda no conhecimento científico e tecnológico que o Brasil tem a ajudar o povo da África. Assim como o Brasil, todos aqueles que conseguiram crescer colocando em prática a política, eu diria, intolerável da escravidão”.

SENATOR CRIVELLA, IN ZAMBIA, TREATED ISSUES OF INTEREST FOR VARIOUS COUNTRIES OF AFRICA
O senador brasileiro, Marcelo Crivella, que também é bispo evangélico, esteve em Zâmbia (África), descansando por alguns dias face aos feriados carnavalescos de 2009. Ele foi recebido em audiência pelo Presidente do país, Rupiah Banda, que é amigo do Brasil e ambos conversaram sobre os termos de acordos de cooperação em fase de finalização.
Senator Brazilian Marcelo Crivella, who is also bishop of the Gospel, was in Zambia (Africa), resting for a few days against the Carnival holidays 2009. Crivella tratou também de problemas na área da saúde, que afligem não apenas Zâmbia, mas estão presentes também em muitos outros países, como Botswana, Zimbabwe, Lesoto, citando apenas alguns, afetando principalmente crianças, que nascidas hoje, têm expectativa de vida de apenas 40 anos.
