Em Cuenca (Equador), a Igreja Batista de La Sienda (agora com novo endereço), dirigida pelo casal de missionários Pastor Heinrich Friesen e esposa Olga (foto), acaba de receber um excelente reforço neste segundo semestre de 2010, pois nela se integrou o missionário Paulo Garbino, que trabalha com ministério esportivo, voltado principalmente para as crianças, valendo dizer que no país estão, também, o Pastor Dimas e Leila.

O governo brasileiro deve assinar um acordo de cooperação internacional com o EQUADOR para preservação do Arquipélago de Galápagos e a ideia, segundo o Presidente do Instituto Chico Mendes de Conservação da Biodiversidade, Rômulo Mello, é fazer um intercâmbio de experiências de conservação entre o arquipélago brasileiro de Fernando de Noronha e estas ilhas que foram cenário principal dos estudos do naturalista britânico Charles Darwin.

Representantes do Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional - IPHAN, Fundação Palmares e Ministério da Cultura - MinC participaram no mês de abril de 2010, em Quito, no Equador, da assinatura do protocolo de intenções entre os Ministérios da Cultura do Brasil e do Equador. O documento prevê novas ações bilaterais de cooperação e intercâmbio no âmbito do Programa Executivo Cultural, acordo firmado em 2007 por ambos os países que abrange todas as áreas da cultura.

O documento é fruto das diversas reuniões que as delegações técnicas das duas nações mantiveram nesta data durante a reunião de ministros de Cultura da América Latina e o Caribe realizada na capital equatoriana. O convênio prevê o intercâmbio de expressões artísticas, o fortalecimento institucional, a diversidade cultural e a cidadania.

Os batistas do Brasil mantêm presença atuante no EQUADOR, onde chegaram em 1980. Hoje são dois casais de missionários: Pastor Dimas e Lília e Pastor Heinrich e Olga, ambos na cidade de Cuenca. Há, ainda, as missionárias Joseane de Souza Lima e Maria Aparecida França, ambas em Esmeraldas, onde se situa a igreja acima.

A falta de uma sociedade feminina nas igrejas equatorianas chamou a atenção do Pastor Dimas e de Lília de Souza, missionários brasileiros de Missões Mundiais no país. O quadro deste problema era desmotivador por total ausência de perspectivas. No entanto, mais uma vez Deus mostrou que é o Todo-Poderoso e que atua no impossível. O casal brasileiro está seguro de que uma sociedade feminina é um trabalho de grande impacto, tanto na vida de mulheres quanto na vida da Igreja.
The lack of a society of women in Ecuadorian churches drew the attention of Pastor Dimas and Lilia de Souza, Brazilian missionaries of World Missions in the country. The framework of this problem was demotivating for total lack of perspective. However, once again showed that God is the Almighty and that acts in the impossible. The Brazilian couple is convinced that a society of women is a work of great impact, both in women's lives and the life of the Church.
Os missionários conversaram com as irmãs, deram sugestões e oraram. Algumas semanas depois, veio a resposta de Deus. Sem ter ouvido sobre o assunto, uma irmã da Igreja Batista de Santa Bárbara, da comunidade indígena, procurou o Pastor Dimas para pedir ajuda, pois pretendia formar uma sociedade feminina, mas não sabia como.
The missionaries talked to the sisters, gave suggestions and prayed. A few weeks later came the answer from God. Not having heard about it, a sister Baptist Church of Santa Barbara, the indigenous community, Pastor Dimas sought for help, as I wanted to form a society of women, but did not know how.
Num domingo, o pastor foi à Igreja Batista de Santa Bárbara para falar às irmãs indígenas. Cerca de 20 mulheres participaram desse tempo abençoado pelo Senhor. Como fruto desse encontro, elas resolveram seguir com as reuniões, pelo menos uma vez por mês, e têm total apoio do casal missionário brasileiro. A boa nova correu e outras irmãs procuraram os missionários para também formarem a sociedade feminina de suas igrejas.
On Sunday, the pastor went to the Baptist Church of Santa Barbara to talk to indigenous sisters. About 20 women participated in this time blessed by the Lord.
