Arqueólogos do Museu Britânico, situado em Londres, anunciaram em julho de 2007 um achado arqueológico que se reporta a um dos oficiais (nobres) do rei Nabucodonozor mencionado pela Bíblia, mais exatamente no capítulo 39 do profeta Jeremias.
Archaeologists from the British Museum, located in London, announced in July 2007 an archaeological find that refers to an official of the (noble) of King Nebuchadnezzar mentioned in the Bible, more precisely in chapter 39 of Jeremiah.

“Entraram nela todos os príncipes do rei de Babilônia, e pararam na porta do meio, a saber: Nergal-Sarezer, Sangar-Nebo, Sarsequim, Rabe-Saris, Nergal-Sarezer, Rabe-Mague, e todos os outros príncipes do rei de Babilônia (Jeremias 39.3)”.
“And all the princes of the king of Babylon, and stopped in the middle gate, namely: Nergal-Sharezer Shamgar-Nebo, Sarsequim, Rab-saris, Nergal-Sharezer Rabe-Mague, and all the other princes of the king of Babylon (Jeremiah 39.3)”.
Trata-se de um tablete de barro com escrita cuneiforme do décimo ano de Nabucodonosor II (595 a.C.) e mencionando Nebo-Sarsequim, príncipe que participou do cerco de Jerusalém, apresentando uma oferenda de ouro no templo principal da Babilônia, provavelmente em honra aos seus deuses.
This is a clay tablet with cuneiform writing of the tenth year of Nebuchadnezzar II (595 BC) and mentioning Nebo-Sarsequim prince who participated in the siege of Jerusalem, with an offering of gold in the main temple of Babylon, probably in honor of their gods.
Encontrar referências em escrita cuneiforme a alguém dessa época é raro, mas achar fontes não bíblicas sobre a existência de um indivíduo mencionado na Bíblia que não seja um rei é incrivelmente raro”, explicou o Dr. Michael Jursa, responsável pelas pesquisas: ele é catedrático associado da Universidade de Viena, que vem desde 1991, estudando tabuletas sob a guarda do Museu Britânico, dentre as cem mil lá existentes.
Find in cuneiform references to someone that age is rare, but finding non-biblical sources about the existence of an individual mentioned in the Bible that is not a king is incredibly rare, said Dr. Michael Jursa, responsible for the research: He is associated professor at the University of Vienna, which dates from 1991, studying tablets in the custody of the British Museum, among the hundred thousand are still there.
