Fundada por Onri em 880 a.C.,Samaria é o nome histórico e bíblico de uma região montanhosa do Oriente Médio, constituída pelo antigo reino de Israel, situado em torno de sua antiga capital, Samaria, e rival do vizinho reino do sul, o reino de Judá e atualmente situa-se entre os territórios da Cisjordânia e de Israel:  cidade de Samaria foi tomada pelos assírios em aproximadamente 722 a.C.

Founded  by Onri in 880 a. C., Samaria is the historical and biblical name of a mountainous region of the Middle East, consisting of the ancient kingdom of Israel, set around its former capital, Samaria, and rival the nearby southern kingdom, the kingdom of Judah and currently lies between the territories of the West Bank and Israel, Samaria was taken by the Assyrians in about 722 BC.

A província da Samaria compreendia primeiramente todo o território ocupado pelas dez tribos revoltadas, as quais se reuniram sob o governo de Jeroboão  e estendia-se desde Betel até Dã, e desde o mar Mediterrâneo até à Síria e Amom, sendo que este território foi diminuído pela inclusão das tribos de Simeão e Dã no reino de Judá - pelas conquistas de Hazael (2 Rs 10.32), de Pul e Tiglate-Pileser (2 Rs 15.29 - 1 Cr 5.26), e finalmente pelas vitórias de Salmaneser (2 Rs 17:5,6).

The province of Samaria comprised primarily throughout the territory occupied by the ten tribes revolted, which met under the rule of Jeroboam, and extended from Bethel to Dan, and from the Mediterranean to Syria and Ammon, and this territory was reduced by the inclusion of the tribes of Simeon and Dan in the kingdom of Judah - the conquests of Hazael (2 Kings 10:32) of Pul and Tiglath-pileser (2 Kgs 15:29 - 1 Cor 5:26), and finally by the victories of Shalmaneser (2 Kings 17:5, 6).

Depois deste último foi Samaria terra de completa desolação (2 Rs 17.23 - 21.13), sendo depois repovoada por estrangeiros durante os anos do cativeiro (2 Rs 17.24 - Ed 4.10).

After the latter was utterly desolated land of Samaria (2 Kings 17:23 to 21:13) and then repopulated by foreigners during the years of captivity (2 Kings 17:24 - Ed 4.10).

A província de Samaria, nos tempos do Novo Testamento, estava situada entre a Judéia e a Galiléia (Lc 17.11) - era limitada ao norte pela série de montes que formam o limite meridional da planície de Esdrelom e ao sul pela fronteira setentrional de Benjamim. Foi atravessada por Jesus Cristo (Jo 4.4 a 43), e em parte muito cedo recebeu a luz do Evangelho (At 8.5 a 25).

The province of Samaria, in New Testament times, was situated between Judea and Galilee (Luke 17:11) - was limited to the north by the series of hills forming the southern boundary of the plain Esdrelom and south by the northern border of Benjamin. It was crossed by Jesus Christ (Jn 4.4 to 43) and partly very early received the light of the Gospel (Acts 8.5 to 25).

Praticamente já foram localizadas as ruínas de todas as cidades e lugares citados nas Escrituras, e aqui trazemos imagens das ruínas de Samaria.

1ª Reis 22:39 menciona uma casa de marfim mandada construir por Acab: é difícil acreditar que essa construção fosse inteiramente de marfim, mas quando foram feitas escavações em Samaria, foi descoberto um palácio muito bonito feito em pedra e nessas ruínas, foram encontrados numerosos fragmentos de objetos de marfim, que tinham servido para decorar os móveis e as paredes do palácio.

1st Kings 22:39 mentions an ivory house built by Ahab's hard to believe that this construction was entirely of ivory, but when excavations were made in Samaria, was discovered a beautiful palace made of stone and these ruins have been found numerous fragments of ivory objects, which had served to decorate the furniture and walls of the palace.
