A importância deste achado é porque, pela primeira vez na história, a descoberta da Arca de Noé foi bem documentada e revisada para a comunidade mundial. Houve várias ocasiões no passado em que pessoas encontraram a Arca e ainda entraram na arca, mas nenhuma evidência substancial foi apresentada para o mundo.
The importance of this finding is because for the first time in history, the discovery of Noah's Ark has been well documented and reviewed for the world community. There were several occasions in the past where people have found the Ark and also entered the ark, but no substantial evidence was presented to the world.
Por exemplo, em 1883, pelo menos oito jornais ao redor do mundo informaram que uma equipe de vistoria dos comissários da Turquia subiu o Monte Ararate e encontrou por acaso uma gigantesca estrutura de madeira muito escura que acreditaram ser nada menos que a Arca de Noé. For example, in 1883, at least eight newspapers around the world reported that a survey team of commissioners of Turkey climbed Mount Ararat and stumbled upon a gigantic structure of very dark wood believed to be none other than Noah's Ark. However, the discovery was not further investigated. On several occasions, the Ark was seen outside of an airplane. And in some cases photographs were taken. But the pictures have disappeared inexplicably.

Um grupo evangélico de Hong Kong, do Ministério Internacional da Arca de Noé, organizou a expedição até o Ararate e afirma ter achado, no alto da montanha, estruturas de madeira que poderiam corresponder, segundo eles, a recintos do barco, e mesmo aos locais onde os casais de cada espécie de animal teriam sido abrigados, conforme diz a narrativa do livro bíblico de Gênesis.
