Iduméia (Marcos 3:8) situava-se na região sul da Judéia na época greco-romana e este nome (Iduméia) era usado pelos gregos e pelos romanos para se referirem a Edom.

Idumea (Mark 3:8) was located in the southern region of Judea in the Greco-Roman times and this name (Idumea) was used by the Greeks and Romans to refer to Edom.

Compulsando a História Geral verificamos que no ano 41, quando Calígula foi feito Imperador, Herodes Agripa I torna-se também rei da Judéia, Samaria e Iduméia: tornou-se, assim, rei de um território tão grande quanto o de seu avô, Herodes Magno.

General History Compulsive found that in 41 years, when Emperor Caligula was done, Herod Agrippa I also becomes king of Judea, Samaria and Idumea, became thus the king of a territory as large as that of his grandfather, Herod Great.

Tanto a Bíblia como a História Universal falam desta cidade, de onde grande multidão saiu para estar com Jesus, buscando a cura para seus doentes: esta cidade realmente existiu.

A cidade de Petra (Edom), antes conhecida como cidade dos edomitas, teve origem em Esaú, irmão de Jacó, filhos de Isaque e netos de Abraão: Esaú, quando se separou de seu irmão Jacó, fundou a cidade de Edom.

The city of Petra (Edom), formerly known as city of Edom, originated in Esau's brother Jacob, Isaac's sons and grandsons of Abraham Esau, when he parted from his brother Jacob, founded the city of Edom.

A região onde se encontra Petra foi ocupada por volta do ano 1.200 a.C. pela tribo de Edom, sendo que sofreu numerosas incursões por parte das tribos israelitas, mas permaneceu sob domínio edomita até à anexação pelo império persa.

The region where Petra was occupied around the year 1.200 a.C. the tribe of Edom, and suffered numerous raids by the tribes of Israel, but remained under Edomite until annexation by the Persian empire.

Durante 600 anos Edom, cidade encravada no deserto da Jordânia, foi considerada lenda e apesar de antigos relatos descreverem com precisão os monumentos grandiosos esculpidos em rocha, ninguém foi capaz de localizá-la até o início do século XIX e o primeiro europeu a descobrir as ruínas de Petra foi Johann Ludwig Burckhardt (1812), fazendo o primeiro estudo arqueológico-científico.

During 600 years Edom, a city tucked in the Jordanian desert, was considered a legend and despite longstanding reports accurately describe the grand monuments carved in stone, no one was able to locate it until the early nineteenth century and the first European to discover the ruins Petra was Johann Ludwig Burckhardt (1812), making the first archaeological and scientific study.

Situada à beira do deserto da Arábia, e escondida em meio às montanhas ao sul do Mar Morto, Petra chegou a ser capital dos nabateus (antigo povo semítico ancestral dos árabes).

Situated on the edge of the Arabian desert, and hid in the mountains south of the Dead Sea, Petra became the capital of the Nabataeans (ancient Semitic people of Arab ancestry).

Assim, confirma-se que existiu a cidade de Iduméia (Edom), na atualidade Petra, na região desértica do Mar Morto.

Thus, it is confirmed that there was a city of Idumea (Edom), today Petra in the desert region of the Dead Sea.

PROFECIA CONTRA EDOM
PROPHECY AGAINST EDOM

“Assim diz o Senhor Deus: pois que Edom se houve vingativamente para com a casa de Judá, e se fez culpadíssimo, vingando-se deles, portanto assim diz o Senhor Deus: Também estenderei a minha mão contra Edom, e arrancarei dele homens e animais e a tornarei em deserto desde Temã; e cairão à espada até Dedã” (Ezequiel 25:12 e 13).

“Thus saith the Lord God: because Edom has a vengeance against the house of Judah, and hath greatly offended, and revenged himself upon them, thus saith the Lord God will stretch out my hand against Edom and cut off his men and animals and make it desolate from Teman, and Dedan shall fall by the sword” (Ezekiel 25:12 and 13).

A consequência desta palavra profética está diante dos nossos olhos: a cidade se transformou em deserto.

The consequence of this prophetic word is before our eyes: the city has turned into desert.
