Poucas semanas depois a notícia da descoberta do pastor de ovelhas chegou ao conhecimento dos curadores do museu da cidade de Sanliurfa que entrou em contato com o German Archaeological Institute em Istanbul e, no final de 1994 o arqueólogo alemão Klaus Schmidt chegou ao sítio de Gobekli Tepe. O que o Sr. Schimdt encontrou pode mudar a história da humanidade.
A few weeks after news of the discovery of a shepherd came to the attention of museum curators in the city of Sanliurfa that came into contact with the German Archaeological Institute in Istanbul and at the end of 1994 the German archaeologist Klaus Schmidt arrived at the site of Tepe Gobekli. What Mr. Schmidt met can change the history of mankind.

O que o pastor de ovelhas encontrou foi a parte superior de dois monólitos em forma de T as primeiras de um sítio muito maior composto de monumentos, paredes e colunas de pedras, cobertas de entalhes de animais: Javalis, patos, serpentes, leões.
What the shepherd was found at the top of two T-shaped monoliths the first of a much larger site consisting of monuments, walls and stone columns, covered with carvings of animals: wild boar, ducks, snakes, lions.
Os entalhes apresentam algumas figuras que parecem humanas, com os braços estilizados e, funcionalmente, todo o conjunto parece ser um templo ou um lugar para rituais.
Slots have some figures that appear human, with arms and stylized, functionally, the whole seems to be a temple or a place for rituals.

Para datação, foram escavadas 45 destas “pedras” que estão organizadas em círculos, mas medições geomagnéticas indicam que existem algumas centenas de outras pedras esperando para ser escavadas.
For dating, were excavated 45 of these “stones” that are arranged in circles, but geomagnetic measurements indicate that there are hundreds of other stones waiting to be excavated.
Até agora é isso. Gobekli Tepe poderia entrar para a história como sendo o Stonehenge turco não fossem alguns fatores que tornam esse sitio único, chegando ao limite do fantástico e extraordinário.
So far it is. Tepe Gobekli could go down in history as the Turkish Stonehenge were not factors that make this place unique, reaching the limit of the fantastic and extraordinary.
O primeiro detalhe surgiu da datação por carbono. As pedras têm entre 12000 e 13000 anos. Ou seja, foram construídas 10.000 anos antes de Cristo. Para comparação, as pedras de Stonehenge foram levantadas 3000 anos antes de Cristo e as pirâmides de Gizé são datadas de 2500 anos antes de Cristo. Colocando o sitio de Gobekli Tepe como o mais antigo achado arqueológico da história, batendo os concorrentes com vantagem astronômica.
The first details emerged of carbon dating. The stones are between 12,000 and 13,000 years. That is, were built 10,000 years before Christ. For comparison, the stones of Stonehenge were raised 3000 years before Christ and the Giza pyramids are dated 2500 years before Christ. Placing the site of Tepe Gobekli as the oldest archaeological find in history, beating out competitors with astronomical advantages.

The stones are from before the Bronze Age, writing, ceramics. Are prior to everything we know and how the hell did the cavemen did it work?
O Sr. Schimdt especula que, durante décadas, grupos de caçadores ocuparam o lugar durante a construção, vivendo em tendas e caçando e comendo. Pontas de flechas encontradas no local suportam essa versão e confirmam a datação dos monumentos.
Mr. Schmidt speculates that, for decades, groups of hunters occupied the site during construction, living in tents and hunting and eating. Arrowheads found in the local support that version and confirm the dating of the monuments.

Dotando os homens deste período de uma sofisticação inimaginável até agora. Quase como se os Deuses tivessem descido dos céus para construir Gobekli Tepe por conta própria.
By itself, the revelation that all pre-hunters, had the ability to build a monument as found in Gobekli Tepe, changes the whole conception of history we have of human evolution. Giving the men of this period of a sophistication hitherto unimagined. Almost as if the gods had descended from heaven to build Gobekli Tepe on their own.

O Sr. Schimdt acredita que Gobekli Tepe seja um templo do que conhecemos hoje como o Jardim do Éden. Para entender como um cientista chega a uma conclusão destas precisamos entender que, para muitos de nós, o Jardim do Éden não passa de uma lenda ou uma metáfora da pureza da humanidade no começo dos tempos.
Mr. Schmidt believes Gobekli Tepe is a temple of what we know today as the Garden of Eden. To understand how a scientist reaches a conclusion of these need to understand that for many of us, the Garden of Eden is just a legend or a metaphor for the purity of humanity in the beginning of time.
Para os estudiosos a história contém uma função didática e pode ter sido uma forma de registrar os traumas sofridos quando fomos forçados a deixar a caçada pela agricultura. Como está descrito na bíblia, logo no primeiro livro, de forma poética.
For scholars the story contains a didactic function and may have been a wayregister the trauma suffered when we were forced to leave the hunt for agriculture. As described in the Bible, in the first book of poetry.
Sabemos que a mudança foi traumática por que fósseis da época mostram que os efeitos dessa mudança. As pessoas cresciam menos e menos saudáveis enquanto seus corpos se adaptavam a nova dieta e aos rigores da agricultura primitiva. Certamente essa mudança não foi realizada por vontade própria. We know the change was traumatic for the time that fossils show that the effects of that change. The people grew less and less healthy as your body adapts to the new diet and the rigors of primitive agriculture. Certainly this change was not made voluntarily. Some historians believe the extinction of animal or environmental factors can force this change.
O Sr. Schimdt acredita em outra possibilidade.
Mr. Schmidt believes another possibility.
“Para criar este templo, os caçadores devem ter se reunido aqui em grande número. E, uma vez que a obra estava concluída, devem ter se congregado em adoração. Neste momento eles devem ter percebido que seria impossível alimentar tanta gente com caçadas e coleta... então eu acredito que a religião tenha motivado a agricultura”.
“To build this temple, hunters must have gathered here in large numbers. And, since the work was completed, must have gathered in worship. At this point they should have realized that it would be impossible to feed so many people with hunting and gathering... so I believe that religion has motivated agriculture”.

Para suportar essa versão está a certeza histórica de que, a mudança para a agricultura ocorreu nesta mesma região. O que não sabemos ainda é o que motivou essa mudança. Os primeiros porcos e ovelhas domesticados são de uma região a cem quilômetros de Gobkli Tepe. O trigo que comemos hoje descende do trigo plantado nas colinas de Gobekli Tepe a milhares de anos e cereais como o arroz e a aveia também podem ter sua origem traçada até essa região do mundo.
To support this version is a historical certainty that the shift to agriculture occurred in this region. We do not know yet is what prompted this change. The first domesticated pigs and sheep are from a region a hundred miles Gobkli Tepe. The wheat we eat today is descended from wheat grown in the hills of Gobekli Tepe thousands of years and cereals like oats and Arros can also be traced to this region of the world.
Isso não é tudo. Além de mudarem para uma forma mais trabalhosa de vida esses primeiros fazendeiros tiveram que enfrentar um desastre ecológico. O estudo do solo da região deserta que temos hoje indica que há 10.000 anos essa região foi um verdadeiro “paraíso” na Terra. Uma região cortada por rios, planícies, montanhas e vales verdejantes. A agricultura destruiu tudo isso, talvez no primeiro desastre ecológico da história.
That's not all. Besides moving to a more laborious life these early farmers had to face an ecological disaster. The study of the soil of the wilderness we have today indicates that 10,000 years ago this region was a veritable paradise on earth. A region crisscrossed by rivers, plains, mountains and verdant valleys. Farming has destroyed all this, perhaps the first environmental disaster in history.

There, as fields were planted and felled trees the micro climate of the region changed, the land was exposed to erosion and land of plenty has become the land of sweat and hard work.

Certainly, some will say that these theories are nothing more than pure speculation, as much historical evidence proving that.
A Bíblia nos diz que o Éden estava entre 4 rios incluindo o Tigre e o Eufrates. GobeKli Tepe está entre o Tigre e o Eufrates. Um texto assírio antigo coloca Beth Eden (a casa do Éden) a 100km de onde está Gobekli Tepe. Um outro livro do antigo testamento diz que as crianças do Eden estavam em Thelasar, uma cidade síria próxima a Gobekli Tepe. A própria palavra Eden tem origem na palavra suméria para planície e Gobekli Tepe se encontra na planície de Harran.
The Bible tells us that Eden was among four rivers including the Tigris and Euphrates. GobeKli Tepe is between the Tigris and the Euphrates. An ancient Assyrian text puts Beth Eden (Eden's house) at 100km from where Gobekli Tepe. Another book of the Old Testament says the children were in Thelasar of Eden, a town near the Syrian Gobekli Tepe. The word itself comes from the Eden Sumerian word for plain and Gobekli Tepe is located in Harran Plain.

Quando colocamos tudo isso junto com as recentes descobertas históricas e o suporte de descobertas anteriores ficamos claramente tentados a colocar o Eden em Gobekli Tepe. Se assim for, parece que a coisa acabou mal. Foram encontrados esqueletos (crânios) adultos no que pode ter sido os primeiros rituais de sacrifício humano da história.
When we put it all together with the recent historical findings support earlier findings and clearly we are tempted to put Eden in Gobekli Tepe. If so, it seems that things ended badly. Skeletons were found (Skulls) in adults that may have been the first rituals of human sacrifice in history.
Há, mais ou menos, 8000 anos os habitantes da região enterram todas as construções de Gobekli Tepe em toneladas de areia, criando as colinas artificiais onde o pastor de ovelhas costuma levar seu rebanho para pastar.
There are, more or less 8000 years the locals bury all construction Gobekli Tepe in tons of sand, creating the artificial hills where the shepherd tends his flock to graze lead.
