Respondendo consulta, +Dom Moysés Barbosa traz a público uma palavra sobre a comemoração do Natal, e afirma que a verdadeira motivação da festa natalina é relembrar e comemorar a data do nascimento de Jesus Cristo, marcando o início do período da encarnação.

A Bíblia não nos mostra orientações sobre comemorações do Natal, mas surgiu na vida secular como festa de aniversário, tendo sido estabelecida a data de 25 de dezembro para a comemoração: e não é impróprio que seja comemorado o nascimento de Jesus.

Mas não se justificam ornamentações exuberantes e caras, se aquele que as faz fica sem condições, por causa disso, de colaborar com alguma campanha destinada a melhorar o Natal dos mais pobres.

Se os promotores ou partícipes das festividades não fizerem delas um momento de comunhão com Deus e oportunidade para engrandecer o santo nome de Jesus e/ou aceitá-Lo como seu único e suficiente salvador, não terão sentido.

Não tem nenhum valor comemoração do Natal sem que o Senhor Jesus seja posicionado como a figura principal.

Agrada mais a Deus uma comemoração simples, que nos mostre Jesus sendo glorificado e/ou nascendo em corações outrora indiferentes ao Plano de Redenção.

Não se pode ser contra os ingredientes que foram sendo introduzidos na festa de Natal, pois se é o aniversário de nascimento do Senhor há que ser marcante, mas cabe aos cristãos relembrar continuamente que essa festa e os ingredientes para identificá-la devem ser os que nasceram da fé, apontam para a fé, promovam aperfeiçoamento espiritual e devem se concretizar em demonstrações de amor, traduzidos em intimidade familiar, solidariedade para com os mais pobres e luta pela vida, vida digna para todos, e luta pela paz.
