= O BOTE DO PASTOR =

Este título, prezados colegas pastores e demais obreiros presentes, não é de minha autoria: é o título de uma aula inaugural proferida em 1977 pelo professor Tércio Cunha, de saudosa memória.

Depois de escrever no quadro a palavra BOTE, que despertou certa curiosidade e ansiedade entre os presentes, ele disse que o bote deve ser sempre usado pelos pastores em suas atividades ministeriais, afirmação que causou mais curiosidade ainda: será que o pastor só trabalha onde precisa ir de barco ou atravessar rios que não tenham ponte?

Mas depois de algumas palavras introdutórias o professor Tércio começou a clarear as coisas: a letra B é de Bíblia; a letra O de Oração; o T, irmãos, vem de Trabalho e com a letra E começa a palavra Estudo.

A primeira parte do bote é a Bíblia, que não pode ser substituída por nenhuma outra literatura evangélica, por melhor que seja, já que ela deve aparecer sempre em primeiro lugar, tem a prioridade, e tudo mais são ferramentas auxiliares.

A segunda parte é a Oração, pois oração não nos prepara para grandes obras, ela é maior que todas as obras, como já dissera Spurgeon: pastor tem que ser fundamentalmente homem de oração, de intimidade com Deus.

A terceira parte do bote, irmãos, é o Trabalho, pois no ministério pastoral não há lugar para quem não goste de trabalhar, e Deus sempre convoca pessoas ocupadas, que estão sempre labutando, assim foi com Gideão e o é nos dias atuais.

A quarta parte do bote é o Estudo: estudar sempre, a Bíblia e demais livros que possam nos ajudar a clarear textos, relatos, versículos,valendo dizer que é grande a gama de boas obras como dicionários, enciclopédias, referências, chaves bíblicas etc. à disposição dos irmãos.

Para aquele que se sente chamado, que entra no ministério, antes de pensar em qualquer meio de locomoção, pense no BOTE... que tem a impulsioná-lo o próprio Senhor.

= SHEPHERD OF THE BOAT =

That title, dear fellow pastors and other workers present, it is not my own: is the title of an inaugural lecture delivered in 1977 by Professor Tércio Cunha, of blessed memory.
