= ADVOGADO CRENTE? =

O artigo do conceituado pastor Lourino Jesus de Albuquerque, publicado em O JORNAL BATISTA (21.03.993) despertou-me a atenção. Realmente niuitos irmãos têm dificuldade em responder, quando indagados “por que são batistas”?

Pertenço à Primeira Igreja Batista de Três Rios (RJ), e respondo com muita segurança. Digo porque sou batista e espero que minhas convicções possam, de alguma forma, orientar irmãos acaso claudicantes, muito especialmente agora, quando movimentos "agitados" (carismáticos, no catolicismo e neo-pentecostais, dentre os evangélicos), estão colocando dúvidas na cabeça de muitos crentes. Aliás perguntaram-me recentemente, por que eu, sendo advogado, era crente. A indagação não me surpreendeu, eis que eu, no meio de tantos causídicos, só conheço uns seis não católicos.

Sou batista e, portanto, não pertenço à religião da maioria dos advogados, porque não encontrei no Novo Testamento passagem que mostre os apóstolos ou outras pessoas se curvando diante de “santos”. Ao contrário, em Atos 10.26, quando alguém pretendeu adorar Pedro, ele mandou que se levantasse. Igualmente, porque não encontrei qualquer trecho dizendo que a Igreja primitiva fazia procissão. Diversamente, em Isaías 45.20 há condenação das procissões com ídolos e isso não foi mudado.

Não encontrei na Bíblia qualquer mandamento proibindo o casamento de ministros religiosos. Encontrei, sim, passagens mostrando que Pedro era casado (Mc 1.30).

Não encontrei referência ao purgatório. As Escrituras Sagradas só nos falam de céu e inferno (Mt 25.34 e 41).

Também não encontrei na Palavra Santa qualquer ensino que nos fale de outro mediador entre Deus e os homens. Só Jesus Cristo é intercessor entre a humanidade e o trono celestial das misericórdias (1Tm 2.5).

Prezados leitores de O JORNAL BATISTA. Muitas práticas estão sendo cultivadas,. mas sem respaldo bíblico. A Bíblia não nos fala, por exemplo, de confissão auricular. Sobre confissão, ela nos exorta a confessarmos nossas culpas uns aos outros (Tg 5.16).

Não encontrei na Bíblia nada que diga que a Ceia tenha os elementos transformados (pão em carne e vinho em sangue) e que assuma caráter divino. Ceia é memorial e como tal deve ser celebrada (1Co 11.24).

Sou batista, prezados leitores, porque a doutrina que me norteia está nas páginas da Bíblia Sagrada e não foi criada por grupos interessados em arrebanhar o maior número de fiéis.

Sou batista porque sei em quem tenho crido e estou bem certo que é poderoso, para guardar o meu tesouro, até o dia final: Jesus Cristo, o único e suficiente Salvador.

= RELIGIOUS LAWYER? =

Article of the worthy pastor of Albuquerque Lourino Jesus, published in O Jornal Batista (21.03.993) awakened me to attention. Niuitos brothers really difficult to answer when asked “why are Baptists”?

Belong to the First Baptist Church of Three Rivers (RJ), and respond with great safety. I say I am Baptist and I hope that my beliefs may in some way, guide brothers claudicantes chance, especially now, when movements “agitated” (charismatic, in Catholicism and neo-Pentecostals, among evangelicals), are putting doubts in your head of many believers. Moreover asked me recently, that I, and lawyer, was Christian. The inquiry does not surprise me, behold, I, in the midst of so many cause list, only six did not know some Catholics.

I am Baptist, and therefore does not belong to the religion of most lawyers, why not find in the New Testament passage that shows the apostles or others were bending in front of “holy”. In contrast, in Acts 10:26, when someone wanted to worship Peter, that he had raised. Also, why not find any words saying that the early church did procession. Unlike in Isaiah 45.20 is condemnation of processions with idols and it was not changed.

I did not find any commandment in the Bible forbidding the marriage of religious ministers. I found, yes, tickets, showing that Peter was married (Mk 1:30).

I found reference to purgatory. The Scripture tells us only of heaven and hell (Mt 25.34, 41).

Also not found in the Holy Word in any teaching that speaks of another mediator between God and men. Only Jesus Christ is the intercessor between humanity and the heavenly throne of Mercy (1Tm 2.5).

Dear readers of The Journal BATISTA. Many practices are being cultivated,. but without biblical support. The Bible tells us not, for example, auricular confession. On admission, she calls on us to confess our sins to each other (T 5.16).

I found nothing in the Bible say that the Supper is the information processed (meat in bread and wine into blood) and to assume divine character. Supper is remembered and as such should be celebrated (1Co 11:24).

I am Baptist, dear readers, because the doctrine that guides me is in the pages of the Holy Bible and was not created by interest groups gather in the largest number of believers.

Baptist because I know in whom I have believed and I am sure that is powerful and, to save my treasure, to end the day: Jesus Christ, the sole and sufficient Savior.
