= OPÇÃO QUE LEVOU AO DESESPERO =

Ainda me lembro daquela noite de 31 de dezembro de 1988. Com minha família, participei da vigília na Igreja Batista do Rio do Ouro, onde foi desenvolvida uma significativa programação para honra e glória do Senhor. Guardo com carinho a fotografia da pomba, de asas abertas, eis que consegui retratá-la no exato momento em que sobrevoava o púlpito, poucos segundos após ter sido solta, como parte de uma encenação especial.

Pela manhã, no primeiro dia de 1989, a notícia corria. Triste acontecimento. O barco de turismo “Bateau Mouche”, que deixava a enseada de Botafogo (Rio de Janeiro) com cerca de 150 brasileiros, americanos e europeus abastados, para assistirem a um espetacular queima de fogos de artifício ao largo da praia de Copacabana, fora atingido de lado por dois vagalhões que o fizeram sossobrar, quando faltavam 15 minutos para meia noite. Lembro-me que, naquele instante, louvávamos ao Senhor no templo e o pastor, entre outras coisas, dizia “... quantos neste momento estão morrendo”, como que antevendo os fatos.

Toda a imprensa publicou o lamentável acontecimento, que ceifou 55 vidas. Casualmente, estou com a edição de janeiro/90 de “Seleções”, que recorda detalhes da tragédia, e sou impulsionado a alguns momentos de reflexão. Será que, se aquelas pessoas optassem por uma reunião na Casa de Deus. Independente de denominação religiosa, teriam enfrentado tanto desespero e até mesmo a morte? Conclusivamente não. Nenhum templo sossobrou na noite de 31 de dezembro de 1988, em decorrência de desabamento, incêndio ou outro tipo de catástrofe.

Tal fato nos transmite uma lição prática. Devemos optar sempre por algo que nos coloque em comunhão com Deus, opção que nos assegura paz e nos dá força e discernimento para enfrentarmos circunstâncias difíceis.

No caso do “Bateau Mouche”, a opção daquelas pessoas, na passagem do ano, foi um jantar a bordo, servido por requintado bufê, e regado a champanha, com danças ao ritmo contagiante do samba, conforme está narrado na revista referida.

Que possamos, não apenas nas festividades de passagem de ano, mas em todos os momentos de nossa, optar alguma coisa que glorifique a Deus.

In the case of the “Bateau Mouche” the choice of those people, the passage of years, was a dinner on board, served by exquisite buffet, and watered the champagne, dancing with the contagious rhythm of the samba, as is narrated in the journal said.

We can, not only in the New Year festivities, but in all of our moments, choose something that exalt God.
