= O CRENTE E O DÍZIMO =

Perguntaram-me, certa vez, se dixar de dar o dízimo é pecado. E tal indagação, prezados leitores partiu de um membro de denominação evangélica.

Antes de qualquer resposta, permiti-me posicionar-me num aspecto, que pode aparecer sem importância mais que na verdade é fundamental para melhor entendimento do grande privilégio de dizimar.

Situo o dízimo como algo que se entrega a Deus, pois não há dúvida de que tudo que existe foi criado e é administrado por ele e, sem dúvida alguma, a ele pertence.

Quanto ao núcleo da pergunta, se é pecado deixar de entregar a décima parte dos nossos ganhos para a causa do Senhor, fiz dois enfoques bíblicos, deixando qualquer conclusão ao sabor das reflexões do consulente. Nesta oportunidade, passo-os aos leitores de O JORNAL BATISTA, na expectativa de que possam ajudar a todos que ainda claudicam quando chega a hora de suprir o envelope e caminhar em direção ao gazofilácio.

A expansão do Evangelho necessita de recursos financeiros, principalmente o árduo trabalho de plantar e gerir novas Igrejas. E tal expansão, fiel aos ensinos de Jesus Cristo, objetiva a salvação das almas perdidas. E quais as pessoas que devem participar de tão nobre missão? Não há a menor dúvida de que são os crentes, que já experimentam a alegria da salvação e, como salvos, querem que outras pessoas venham ao conhecimento da verdade. Mas será que tal participação é bíblica? Os crentes são eleitos para tal encargo?

Em 1Coríntios3.9 a lição é suficientemente clara: todos os crentes são cooperadores de Deus. A partir desse ensino, surge outra indagação: cooperar com Deus é algo que se pode chamar de prática do bem? Claro que sim. Prática do mal é tudo que se faz que causa agrado ao maligno.

E o que nos diz Tiago 4.17? “Aquele pois, que sabe fazer o bem e não o fazer, comete pecado”.

And what James says in 4:17? “He therefore who knows to do good and not do so, commits sin”.
