LADDERS THE ZIGGURAT

UM ZIGURATE (MAIS CORRETAMENTE, DEVERIA DIZER-SE EM PORTUGUÊS UMA ZIGURATE, POIS O SUBSTANTIVO É FEMININO NAS ANTIGAS LÍNGUAS DO ORIENTE PRÓXIMO) É UMA FORMA DE TEMPLO, COMUM AOS SUMÉRIOS, BABILÔNIOS E ASSÍRIOS, PERTINENTE À ÉPOCA DO ANTIGO VALE DA MESOPOTÂMIA E CONSTRUÍDO NA FORMA DE PIRÂMIDES

ZIGGURAT (MORE CORRECTLY, SHOULD TELL IF AN IN PORTUGUESE ZIGGURAT, AS THE WOMEN IN ANCIENT NOUN IS NEAR EASTERN LANGUAGES) IS A FORM OF TEMPLE, THE COMMON SUMERIANS, BABYLONIANS AND THE ASSYRIANS, APPLICABLE AT THE TIME OF ANCIENT VALLEY AND MESOPOTAMIA BUILT IN THE SHAPE OF THE PYRAMIDS

Ur was a city of Sumer, inshore near the mouth of the Euphrates, the Persian Gulf, and is now well inland, in the south of the Euphrates on its right bank, 16 km from near Nasiriyah and also of Eridu:. the end of the empire of the city-state of Ur, occurred at around 20:19 centuries BC.

The most important finding for scholars of the Bible was a layer of clean clay and sand deposited by the waters of two and a half feet thick, with evidence of occupation at the top and bottom, showing “a decisive break in the continuity of local culture”. The excavator said about it: “No common ascent of the rivers leave behind anything that even approximated the size of the clay embankment... The flood that deposited these remains must have been of a magnitude unparalleled in local history... There can be no doubt that this flood was the flood of stories and legends of the Sumerian, the flood on which based the story of Noah”.

OS CANANEUS
THE CANAANITES

Juízes 1:1-36
Judges 1:1-36

In passing up the Biblical references to the Canaanites, the people who lived near Ur, more precisely in the lost city of Ugarit (modern Ras Shamra) in Syria, which was discovered by French archaeologists in 1928, and many writings, all extremely important for scholars of the Old Testament, for help it clarify the Hebrew texts and reveal more of how Judaism used common phrases, literary expressions and phrases used by cultures around him gentle.

The Ugaritic language is attested in texts from the twelfth and fourteenth century BC, the city was destroyed between 1180 and 1170 BC, were found with their texts written in other places, like in Mesopotamia.

Ugaritic was used by a Canaanite culture, and the use of the term “Canaanite” to refer to the Ugaritic language is sometimes found.

Ugarit's location was forgotten until 1928 when an Alawite peasant accidentally opened an old tomb while plowing a field. The discovered area was the Necropolis of Ugarit. Excavations have since revealed a major city, which lies next to Ur and Eridu (Chaldean) as the cradle of urban culture, with a prehistory that reaches the sixth millennium BC, perhaps because it was both a port and the entry trade route that led to the land around the Tigris and Euphrates.

Divination, astrology and magic were common in Ugarit, and idolatry had the chief god El (pictured above), and in contrast, the Israelis should reject such practices, as warned in the Bible Deuteronômio 18:9-14.

RUINAS DE ERIDU
RUINS OF ERIDU

Eridu, “Mighty Place” or “Place of the Prince”, was an ancient city seven miles southwest of Ur, now known as Tell Abu Shahrain in Dhi Qar Governorate, Iraq.

Eridu represented the southernmost of the conglomeration of cities that developed around the temples in Sumer, a country in southern Mesopotamia, cities were often built so close together that they could almost visualize each other with the naked eye.

Archaeological investigations began in Eridu in 1940, proving that the oldest settlement in the region occurred around 5000 BC and according to Oppenheim, “ultimately, the entire southern half plunged into stagnation, leaving the political initiative to the rulers of northern cities”, which led to the ostracism of the city in 600 BC.

Many discoveries in cities across the non-biblical archaeological research, much help readers understand certain Bible passages: for example here, we better understand the facts related to the history of Ur of the Chaldeans, analyzing aspects of Ugarit, a border town, on the the Canaanites lived.
